Proceedings of the Third Theological Conference

“The Proceedings of the Third Theological Conference are being published on account of the seriousness of the topic and the papers, and the authority of the speakers.

The central subject of the Third Theological Conference, ‘Western Theology: Theory and Practice’, is significant, on the one hand, to enable us to understand the central points of Western theology, particularly from the eleventh century onwards, and, on the other hand, to show us to what extent and to what degree it has influence our own tradition in recent centuries.

In addition to the Proceedings of this successful Theology Conference, I have deemed it essential, as an Annex, to include three articles that highlight the central points that distinguish Western theology from Eastern theology from the fourth until the eleventh century, and then from the scholastic period (eleventh to twelfth century) until the era of neo-scholasticism and neo-Thomism (twentieth century). This will show clearly that there are geopolitical and theological factors that have influenced our contemporary theology, even Orthodox theology.

The Proceedings of the present Conference, together with the Annex, are published by the Holy Metropolis of Nafpaktos and St Vlassios in order that we might increase our awareness of ourselves and others through knowledge of Western theology.”
