BIOTECHNOLOGY, BIOETHICS, BIOTHEOLOGY

In our time a revolution is taking place in the field of biotechnology, and the sciences of molecular biology and artificial intelligence are continuously progressing. Yet all these developments pose risks. Metropolitan Hierotheos of Nafpaktos and Dr Triphon Spyridonides, a nuclear medicine physician, with their knowledge of Orthodox theology and contemporary research, examine the problems, the ethical dilemmas and the doubts concerning biomedical research and modern technology, and underline the boundaries between theology and science. The Church is not opposed to scientific research that aims to relieve pain and treat disease, as long as scientists erect barriers to irresponsible research and anything that undermines human life and freedom.
