Image of the contemporary world
"Humans, the World and Post-Humans"
This is timely book, a spiritual X-ray of our society, which presents the image of the world today and informs readers about how to face contemporary theological and social problems from the perspective of Orthodox theology. The image of the world, as seen by the Church, but also as shaped by those who express public opinion, is constantly in conflict. The human being created in God’s image is changed into the image of created things and realities. The Orthodox Church does not reject the modern scientific achievements of digital technology, but neither does it make a god of them. It sets out the Orthodox theological preconditions for their use, and condemns whatever undermines human life and freedom.
Priority is given to the media and to so-called ‘artificial intelligence’, which is essentially ‘artificial cleverness’, a mechanical copy of the human brain. It is emphasised, however, that human beings are more than ‘brain memory’, as they also have noetic energy, the ‘heart memory’ by which they acquire knowledge of God.
